If you've already booked hotel accommodation and are looking for things to do in Meath this festive season, you're guaranteed to be spoilt for choice. Let the fabulous weather, hospitality and abundance of activities keep you and your family suitably entertained, while you take a much needed December break. If you're staying at one of the sublime hotels in Meath, make sure to book your tickets for some of the events soon, as they tend to fill up rather quickly.
Here are just a few of the things you have to look forward to:
Visit a photographic exhibition
Until December 31st you'll be able to see a fantastic exhibition by local photographer Eric O' Neill at the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre. See intriguing and vivid pictures taken at the historical and beautiful areas of King William's Glen and Dowth. Admission is free and the venue is open from 9am to 5pm every day.
Watch the ballet
On December 17 and 18th, catch an exotic Arabian ballet show at the Solstice Arts Centre, where Scheherazade tells the story of a murderous king who becomes enchanted by a woman he has sentenced to execution. Tickets start at €16 and be sure to book your seats as soon as possible.
Catch a gig
Watch Lounge Act as they perform a Nirvana tribute show on December 29 at 8pm at Swan Lane music venue. Anyone who appreciates the music of the alternative rock band, which shot to super stardom in the 90's, will love the performance by this acclaimed tribute band. Tickets are €22.50.
Visit Santa's Village
Get into the Christmas spirit by visiting Santa's Village at Grove Gardens, until the end of December. Children will love the atmosphere as they tell Santa their Christmas wishes, receive gifts and stop in to visit the deer. Booking isn't necessary and tickets are €18 per child and free for parents.
Enjoy the Winter Solstice
If you're willing to venture from your luxury hotel accommodation into the crisp early morning air, then this activity is a must. Popular with visitors from in and around town, gather at Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre in Newgrange to enjoy the spectacular sunrise at 8.58am. It's a time to celebrate the beginning of longer days!
These are just a few of the things to do in Meath during the festive season…see you soon!
